Wolffer Estate Brut Blanc de Blanc 2007 – A Happy New Year Toast

I wanted to extend a New Year’s Toast to you this year with a wonderful sparkling Long Island wine – Wolffer Estate Brut Blanc de Blanc 2007 ( $35).  I am a wine club member at Roanoke Vineyards (my first club so far) and the wine maker for Wolffer (Roman Roth) is also the winemaker for Roanoke.  The talent is deep.

This sparkling wine is perfect for nights like New Year’s Eve.  Andrew and I decided to stay home this year and enjoy the New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.  We are trying to continue our Pop-Star fun from my winning Jingle Ball Experience.

On Friday, we stopped at Roanoke Vineyards to pick up my Holiday Wine Club selections and saw that the sparkling wine was all wrapped up and ready for New Year’s.  Amanda was so nice to share a taste with us and I was smitten with the taste of this wine.

This wonderful sparkling wine had a clean scent like a Long Island breeze with a slight fresh minerality.  The taste is perfectly balanced between sweet and dry (for my taste) and it was like a bubbly apricot Italian ice.  When it was left to warm up a bit the smell and taste of green apples came into the picture.  The bubbles reminded me of good French Champagne and the taste was pure tasty Long Island!
