Wine Food and Fun Hamptons Style - Dan's Taste of Two Forks - Virginia's Long IslandI had my wine, food and fun Hamptons style on Saturday night in Bridgehampton, NY! Andrew and I attended Dan’s Taste of Two Forks Event.

I was pleased to be personally invited to blog about this event.  I will disclose that I purchased tickets at a 20% discount.  We were happy to support Have a Heart Community Trust (benefiting East End food pantries).  This is exactly why I am happy to be a Long Island blogger – my work involved eating and drinking my way through a fabulous, star-studded event.

We decided to go the VIP route and were allowed in an hour early.  Roseanna Scotto was the Emcee and she got the crowd fired up for the fun ahead.  She is lovely and I think that she is even more beautiful in person.  Chef Marcus Samuelsson hosted the event.  He was a wonderful host who made himself available to the crowd and provided the awesome swag – his cookbook New American Table personally signed to me and anyone who wanted one in the outdoor living room.

When we first arrived Andrew and I got to work taking pictures of all of the fantastic offerings.  Andrew agreed to be my photographer and designated driver for the evening.

Wine Food and Fun Hamptons Style - Dan's Taste of Two Forks - Virginia's Long IslandWe were thrilled to be able to spend the evening in a comfortable environment where the only decision was which table to visit next.  There was a wonderful mix of superb Long Island wine and award winning restaurants to choose from.

Each table had a tasting selection of tapas style food bites, small desserts and nice sips of quality wine and beverages.

There was a nice backyard oasis to sit and enjoy the feast.  People were so friendly and it was such a cool environment to kick back and chill.  We spent some time relaxing but the thrill of the night was to try and experience as many tastes as possible.  We were not disappointed.

If the food and wine weren’t calling to me like a siren, I would have happily danced the night away.

The best part about DJ Phresh was that he was smiling the whole time.  I love to see people enjoying their careers!  The music and happiness just flowed out from him and lit up the room!

Now onto the food.  The tasting plates were all unique and really showed what each chef was all about.  The freshness and creativity was phenomenal and the chefs made magical taste experiences.

The Montauk Lake Club and Marina offered a wonderful seared sea scallop with sweetpea cheesecake and lobster foam.  This was my first taste of the day and I knew I was in the right place! I went back for more of this later in the evening. Tasty is an understatement!

 

Wine Food and Fun Hamptons Style - Dan's Taste of Two Forks - Virginia's Long IslandLove Lane Kitchen had a great Fava Bean, Goat Cheese Ricotta and Nepitella Bruschetta.  I was very impressed by this flavorful bite of goodness.

Wine Food and Fun Hamptons Style - Dan's Taste of Two Forks - Virginia's Long IslandJamesport Manor Inn presented a delightful lobster and sweet corn dish that was perfect for a warm summer evening.  So refreshing!  The potato chip base was crunchy and the whole bite was fun!

Almond Bar and Restaurant prepared a fantastic pastrami plate served with fresh garden peppers.  The table was artfully strewn with the ingredients to brine pastrami and the effect was brilliant!

 

 

 

 

Wine Food and Fun Hamptons Style - Dan's Taste of Two ForksNoahs brought it with a crab stuffed local deviled egg which was perfectly balanced and I want to experience this again.  The subtle taste was outstanding.

I loved it too!  We have decided to visit  this restaurant as soon as possible.  We were drinking wine from Gramercy Vineyards when we tasted the ceviche and it was a wonderful taste of Mattituck.  A perfect combination.

Wine Food and Fun Hamptons Style - Dan's Taste of Two Forks - Virginia's Long IslandRace Lane offered an incredible Tuna Tabbouleah! – cracked wheat with yellow fin tuna, Harissa vinaigrette with mint yogurt.  This was the BOMB!

 

 

 

Wine Food and Fun Hamptons Style - Dan's Taste of Two Forks - Virginia's Long IslandThe Southampton Social Club had one of the best tastes of the night.  A smooth and decadent foie gras mousse was a welcome taste that I admit I went back to several times for a mouthful of perfection!

Rugosa Long Island Duck Mouse with cantaloupe tomato salsa – the concept was perfect. The consistency and the taste were so refreshing.  So impressive and so Long Island!

A great, super fresh tuna tartar from Savanna’s.  Served by the fabulous Datza and her friend John.

 

Onto the desserts! I will admit that I am not a dessert person but the Balsam Farms strawberry and Ricotta Tart with Mascarpone Cheese from Nick and Toni’s was fantastic.  They were so fun and friendly to talk to! And they talked me into eating sugar…..and it was the BOMB!

Wine Food and Fun Hamptons Style - Dan's Taste of Two Forks - Virginia's Long IslandI will start with Gramercy Vineyards.  I was extremely impressed with both the Rose and the Merlot.  Both were examples of superior quality wine.  Carol Sullivan the Founder/Proprietor explained to me that Roman Roth is the Winemaker.  No wonder these wines were so wonderful!

Wine Food and Fun Hamptons Style - Dan's Taste of Two Forks - Virginia's Long IslandOne of the nicest moments of the night was relaxing in the outdoor living room with Wolffer Rose (my absolute favorite Rose) and a lovely crab ceviche from 1770 House.

 

 

 

Wine Food and Fun Hamptons Style - Dan's Taste of Two Forks - Virginia's Long IslandI had two wonderful wines from Osprey’s Dominion.  The Riesling and the Gewurztraminer (the only one grown on Long Island).  I am officially in love!

 

 

 

Wine Food and Fun Hamptons Style - Dan's Taste of Two Forks - Virginia's Longt IslandSherwood House Vineyards‘ wine was impressive.  I tried both the unoaked and French oaked Chardonnay.  Both were fantastic – I liked the oaked one a bit more.  It was right up my alley!

Wine Food and Fun Hamptons Style - Dan's Taste of Two Forks - Virginia's Long IslandThe Merliance from the Long Island Merlot Alliance was spectacular!  This is a wine made through a cooperative designed to showcase Long Island’s most beloved grape – Merlot.

 

 

 

Wine Food and Fun Hamptons Style - Dan's Taste of Two Forks - Virginia's Long IslandIt was great to meet Miriam Novalle at T Salon!  She was so friendly and happily explained her Tea Mission.  The Tea was refreshing and perfectly brewed and I am now a fan!  Having the ice-cold tea while bopping to the music was another of my favorite moments of the evening.

Pisco Portion – a Peruvian liquor – had a wonderful and refreshing cocktail garnished with beautiful roses.

      I originally started with a free blog at blogspot.com – its easy and effective. I decided to go to GoDaddy and get my domain name “Virginia’s Long Island” and then use them as a host to start a WordPress website – which cost me about $200. I thought it was a good idea to have my own website – because I am now running my micro biz as an SEO / Social Media Consultant and I can show potential clients how I write.
